Quirky Cow and Milkmaid Earrings- Vintage

Can we say unique? Abstract? Yes! We wish that we could meet the creator of these earrings. They appear to be a milkmaid and her cow, but why is she so dressed up and what's with that one silver shoe/boot? Was she going out to dinner, but her cow got loose and she had to run after it? Is her foot in a cast? Did the cow step on her foot? And why is the cow purple? 

These earrings would be a conversation starter at a country fair or a contemporary art museum.

The milkmaid is about 3" long, the cow is 2.5", both are about 1" wide. Lightweight metal and wire.
